Part 1 We live in broken culture and society that is telling us what a family should look like. Whoever wins the family, wins the culture in the end. Family is a God idea. It is not a human construct. Your family, according to God’s Word, is a gift of God. A Christian family comes in the infinite compassion of the majestic and glorious God. A Christian family is the product of God’s hand and of God’s heart. For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, Ephesians 3:14-15 Blessed families are strong families. These are families walking in the fruit of the Spirit. God gives us the blueprint and structure of how to build strong families. Families are truly strong when family members are bound in unity by their shared relationship with God. The blessing of the Lord- it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with [neither does toiling increase it]. Proverbs 10:22 How do we attract the blessing of God? Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6 Matthew 5:6 (AMPC) | Blessed and fortunate and happy and [a]spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God [b]enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be [c]completely satisfied! We need to hunger and thirst for the things of God. Are you hungry for the things of God? What doesn’t work? Legalistic Christianity Rules without relationship lead to rebellion For sin is the string that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 1 Corinthians 15:56 Lukewarm Christianity Christ should be the center of our families. We need to create an environment where our family sees God as loving, approachable and involved But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! Revelations 3:16 How to create hunger for God in our families Involve God in our daily conversations “Look at how good God has been to us” Church is non-negotiable “Kids don’t want to miss kids and teen church” Show how seeking and serving God is fun “We don’t need to tell our kids to be good when we are pursuing the one who is good” And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Gifts of the Spirit Click the link above to view the full sermon on Facebook. Activating the gifts of the Holy Spirit is ultimately up to us. Believe it or not, these gifts are available to all of us. Spiritual gifts are not weird or freaky we are encouraged to eagerly desire the gifts. According to a recent study 97% of Christians do not know anything about spiritual gifts. Church, let us not be a part of that statistic. Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit especially prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14:1 Spiritual gifts are there to enable us to live a supernatural life in a natural world. The working definition of spiritual gifts is that spiritual gifts are special abilities given by God, to all God’s people to empower them to make an impact, to accomplish God’s purpose and plans. Spiritual gifts are NOT: Natural talents Earned (They are received) A sign of spiritual maturity Given to the “elite” few Fruits of the spirit (Gifts are given, fruit are grown) To be feared Spiritual gifts categories: Motivational gifts: Each Christian receives one at the time of salvation, and it is the tool through which God works in him or her to see needs and to do something to meet them. These gifts equip believers to take a vital role in the Church. Romans 12:6-8 | 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Manifestation gifts: These gifts are another category of spiritual gifts that are given to the Church to benefit both believers and unbelievers. These gifts represent the work God does through the life of a believer in a given situation to demonstrate His supernatural power. 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:4-10 How to grow in your manifestation gifts Earnestly desire the gifts Study what the Word says Ask God to reveal them to you Examine what makes you tick Destiny Hub Where is the Holy Spirit leading you 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. The Power of the Holy Spirit There is no secret formula that makes the Spirit’s power operational in our lives. Scripture tells us that the Spirit dwells and operates in us. We have to learn by experience through interaction with God to understand how that dynamic works. The Holy Spirit gave power to: Joseph to rule over Egypt Joshua military power Prophets to speak prophetic words Gideon to lead Samson to fight Jesus to be raised from the dead Disciples to change the world Jesus promised His disciples He would fill them by the Holy Spirit. Throughout history the Holy Spirit gave power to His people. The power that was available to everyone who we look up to in the word of God, is still available to us today. All those who have placed their faith in Christ are immediately and permanently indwelled by the Holy Spirit. “Behold, I send the Promise of my Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49 (Endued means to be clothed, put on, to sink in clothing) Do you every feel like there are people who have more spiritual power than you? It is not “more” power but rather more surrender to the power. We need to allow ourselves to be submerged in the Spirit. Most Christians are struggling in their walk because they are doing it in their own strength and not through the power available to them. And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you. Romans 8:11 The spirit of God gives us the power to live a supernatural life in a natural world. Those who are saved, in Christ, are absolutely and totally free from any threat of condemnation. Acts 1:8| But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth. (Dynamis power: Power for performing miracles. Moral power and excellence of soul Power and influence that belong wealth and riches. Power and resources arising from numbers. Power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts.) The Holy Spirit power is only released when we take a leap of faith and allow Him to work. When we embrace the power of the Holy Spirit we are empowered for life and ministry.

It’s important that we understand that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We need to understand that because, how you view yourself your world view will determine how you view everything else. If you view yourself as a human person having a spiritual experience then everything is first filtered through a human senses. then the Lord god formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into His nostrils the breath or the spirit of life and man became a living being Genesis 2:7 So, in essence the Holy Spirit and the spirit of God is what energizes us. The spirit of God is what makes us alive when the spirit leaves. then Jesus said to them again peace to you as the Father sent me forth so i am sending you 22 and having said this He breathed on them and said to them Receive the holy spirit John 20: 21-22 If we are spirit beings we must become acquainted with the spirit of God which gives life. So, if we are spirit beings we need to have a deeper intimacy with the spirit of god which gives life. The Holy Spirit is not a cosmic force it is a person. The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty [who is painfully conscious of his need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened]; and whoever [earnestly] desires to do it, let him come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost. Revelations 22:17 If we are spirit beings we know that without the spirit we become very drained and unfulfilled. To be strengthened we need to come to God the spirit of life so we can be energized we need to become acquainted with the holy spirit which is the presence of God the third part of the trinity that’s active in the earth. The number one function of the holy spirit is to enable intimacy with God the Father. The main role of the Holy Spirit is for us to experience the Father’s heart of love. This is important because we can have intimacy with God but if we do not view God the Father as God the Father of love we’re going to become very weary in your relationship. It’s very difficult for us to connect with symbols. We must have a relationship with the trinity – Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Sometimes we try to connect to God through symbols but that represents something else. Personal Acts of the Holy Spirit: Searches (1 Corinthians 2:10) Speaks (Hebrews 3:7-11) Testifies (Romans 8:16) Teaches (John 14:26) Reproves (John 16:7) Prays and Intercedes (Romans 8:2) Leads (Mark 1:12) Regenerates (Titus 3:5) Comforts (John 14:26) Calls men into ministry (Acts 13:4) Imparts spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12) Glorifies Jesus, the Son of God (John 16:14) 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever – 17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. John 14:16-17 Too many people run around trying to help themselves. They turn to the wrong places for comfort, encouragement, or counsel. Many try to be “good Christians” by advocating for the self. All the while, the Spirit lives within, ready to help and aid us as Christ did his disciples. He wants to shape and mould you, gift and counsel you. He wants to open the mind of God as revealed in Scripture to you. Personhood of the Holy Spirit My comforter: Life is a painful mess of challenges, limitations, and failures. You are always put face-to-face with life’s difficulties. He works to bring Scripture, friendships, and perspective into our minds at just the right time. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 My counsellor The Holy Spirit delivers the Lord’s counsel to our lives and hearts. Open yourself to His word. But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. John 16:13 My strengthener He champions our God-given cause and works in us so that even in our weakness we are enabled to work for and in God. God First – Part 3

The Power Of The Seed God’s plan for everything is multiplication. God’s plan for our lives is to multiply everything in our lives. That includes multiplying the seeds sown in our lives. Even our finances. Our finances are a seed. The world functions on a system of receiving and consuming. God’s system functions on a system of receiving and sowing. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:22 We need to understand that in order to function in God’s economy we need to know what it means to receive and sow. Lack is rooted in a scarcity mindset. Scarcity mindset is the logic that “there is only so much to go around for everyone”. In God’s system there is no lack. There is plenty to go around Scarcity Cycle What we do after that is, we hold on. But, we need to break the cycle. If you constantly find yourself in the same place then it is not lack, it is a scarcity cycle. We cannot do the same thing and expect a different result. Breaking the scarcity cycle: We Give Generously We need to co-labour with God. We partner with His word and sow into that. 6 [Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings. 7 Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving]. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 God Multiplies Giving should be delight. And when you give from a celebratory point of view, God gives you more so that you can give more. God expects our giving to be faith-based, voluntary, and cheerful—not legalistic, oppressive, or mandatory. 10 And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. 11 Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 (47:30) verse 11 (52:27) Cycle Of Supply Tithing breaks the cycle of scarcity and starts a cycle of fresh supply. 3 things the tithe does in our lives Teaches Us To Put God 1st 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3:10 Bring this tithe to eat before the Lord your God at the place he shall choose as his sanctuary; this applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the first born of your flocks and herds. The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives. Deuteronomy 14:23 Builds Our Faith …Test me in this…” Malachi 3:10 The only time we can test God is with our tithes. God is saying give me your first and best and I’ll bless the rest Provides For The Work Of God’s House Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. God First – Part 1

How do we handle our finances in Godly way? God has principles and foundations as to how we handle our money in a Godly way. Jesus spoke more about money and finances than He did about prayer and fasting. If Jesus spoke about this so frequently, it’s key that we take note of it. God regards the way we handle money as a heart issue. God equates the way we handle money with the amount of heavenly riches He can entrust to us. 10 He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the [case of] unrighteous mammon (money, possessions), who will entrust to you the true riches? 12 And if you have not proved faithful in that which belongs to another [whether God or man], who will give you that which is your own [that is, the true riches]? 13 No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (riches, or anything in which you trust and on which you rely). Luke 16:10-13 If you can be trusted with the little, you will be trusted with more. To the degree we honour God with our finances, will determine the degree of fullness we experience of Him. God is concerned about your heart (what you value and prioritise). 9 Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income; 10 So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 Firstfruit refers to your tithe which 10% of your income. The principle of tithing was established by Abram. 16 And he brought back all the goods and also brought back his kinsman Lot and his possessions, the women also and the people. 17 After his [Abram’s] return from the defeat and slaying of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh, that is, the King’s Valley. 18 Melchizedek king of Salem [later called Jerusalem] brought out bread and wine [for their nourishment]; he was the priest of God Most High, 19 And he blessed him and said, Blessed (favored with blessings, made blissful, joyful) be Abram by God Most High, Possessor and Maker of heaven and earth, 20 And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your foes into your hand! And [Abram] gave him a tenth of all [he had taken]. [Heb. 7:1-10.] Genesis 14:15-20| Giving your tithe is a privilege. We don’t have to give to God, we get to give to Him. It’s a delight. The principle of tithing was established before the law was given. It is our response of worship to Him for what He has and is doing in our lives. But here’s the thing, God doesn’t just want 10%, He wants all of us. Its not about Rands and cents, it’s about our lives. Tithing is not a money issue it’s a heart issue. And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord. Leviticus 27:30 Not only is our tithe His, but it is also holy. It needs to be set apart and sacred. Holy things are not to be touched – they are to be revered. If we want to be blessed according to God’s way, then we need to handle our finances in a Godly way. God is really concerned with what you do with the first 10% of your income. 3 things the tithe does in our lives Teaches us to put God first Builds our faith Provides for the work of God’s house Bring this tithe to eat before the Lord your God at the place He shall choose as His sanctuary; this applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn of your flocks and herds. The Full Life Part 5

Honour His Mission To live a full life, an abundant life we need to honour God. How do we honour God? We honour His mission. The mission is too important to quit. If you don’t live up to the mission God has called you to, then you are denying people of the treasure built up in you. Treasure must be dug up. There’s a treasure inside of you and God is willing to do anything to reveal it. However, digging is messy. But be comforted because God gets in the mud with you. When it gets messy, don’t run away. Run to God. When tired: Learn to rest, not quit. Rest in God. The mission is too important. So, whatever is important to God should be important to us. What is important to God? His Word, His people, and His mission. However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves. 2 Corinthians 4:7 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling[a] the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 We are stewards of the gifts that God has given us. These gifts are not our own. Our ministry is to bring people back to God. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Matthew 28:18-20 This is known as the great commission. This is God’s mission. It is the Great Co-mission. God is trusting us to partner with Him. Co-mission means to collaborate, to co-labour, to partner. If you want to experience a full life, you need to start partnering with God on His mission. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:9 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heat that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same is Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? Romans 10:9-14 We have already called upon His name to believe in Him. It is now our duty to tell others about God because how will others believe and call upon Him if we don’t tell them about God. We practically partner with God through our; Financial resources Time Talent 3 Then the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, 4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your panelled houses, while this house lies in ruins? 5 Now, therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. 6 You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes. 7 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. 8 Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the Lord. 9 You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? Declares the Lord of hosts. How do we walk into the abundant life God has called us to? First you need to know that God has called us to a life of abundance. He has called us to have a full life. And we don’t mean a full life with material things. We’re talking about your whole life prosperity. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 How do we honour God? We honour His people Honouring means putting a weight, price and value on something. 4 For just as in one physical body we have many parts (organs, members, and these parts do not all have the same function or special use, 5 So we, numerous as are, are one body in Christ (the Messiah) and individually we are parts of one another [mutually dependant on one another] 6 Having gifts (faculties, talents, qualities) that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: [He whose gift is] prophecy, [let him prophesy] according to the proportion of his faith; 7 if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; 8 or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, [a]with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness 9 Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour. Romans 12:4-10 He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. Matthew 10:41 The reality is that we are all mutually dependent on each other. There’s something you have – that God has uniquely placed in your life that I need and vice versa. We are a part of body. We need one another. The degree of which you recognise the value of someone else in the body of Christ, is the degree of which you will actually be able to partake in that grace. We are to place a high value on one another. We honour on 3 different levels… People above us Anyone that is speaking into your life from a higher position/perspective. e.g. Leaders, spouse, boss, parents Their role is to build us and mature us into Christ-likeness. The degree to which we honour that person is the degree to which we will be rewarded for our honour. 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ Ephesians 4: 11-15 Let the elders who perform the duties of their office well be considered doubly worthy of honor [and of adequate [a]financial support], especially those who labor faithfully in preaching and teaching. 1 Timothy 5:17 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you Galatians 4:19 People beside us Anyone that is in the same part of their journey/maturity as us. E.g., spouse, friends, peers, colleagues Their role is to support me and sharpen me as I support and sharpen them. The responsibility that we have when we honour people beside us is not so we can impart on one another but rather sharpen one another. As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend Proverbs 27:17 We must be selective of who we surround ourselves with an who we allow to speak into our lives. How do we determine who should speak into our lives? 1 Corinthians 11:1 – And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. People below us Anyone that we are building and helping mature into Christ-likeness E.g., children, friends, new believers, sub-ordinates, people of lower social standing. John 13: 12-15 | 12 After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? 13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you Jesus here is showing us, as our model, how to serve others. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Philippians 2: 5-8 5 Ways To Practically Honour Bless, serve, appreciate, pray for, support Implement the person’s instruction/impartation Follow through on your commitment (even if it means it is sacrificial) Be on time Be responsive Go into this week with this mindset about people – “you are worth it”

A Year of Open Doors

As a Church in the beginning of each year we believe God has given us a mandate – a purpose to fulfil. This year we felt God was calling the Church to a “A year of open doors.” But a year of open doors also means that we also need to prepare for some doors to close. The word given to us as a body also applies to all of us individually. That is why it important to stay connected to the body of Christ. 3 strategies of the enemy Each of the strategies are designed to get you away from the will of God. Distraction Discouragement Offence So, where you focus goes is where your energy goes. If your energy is not focused on God, then all these strategies take precedent. You will miss what God is saying. The only thing the enemy cares about is when you start tapping into your purpose. Because when you are fulfilling your purpose, you become effective. That is why he starts planting seeds of distraction discouragement, and offence. We need to be led by the spirit and not by our eyes. By faith not by sight.
